National Manufacturing Day 2014 is October 3rd. Like many companies in the at-retail marketing world, we design great in-store solutions for brands and retailers. Unlike many of those companies Tusco Display actually MAKES most of what we design. We are manufacturers and darn proud of it, thank you very much.
We had a client visit one of our facilities a couple years ago who, after a tour, said in astonishment, “I didn’t know anybody made anything in the States anymore!” Taken alone, manufacturing in the US would be the eighth largest economy in the world.
That client was not alone. Many people believe that they must buy abroad to get the best price when, in fact, especially post-Great Recession, American manufacturers compete quite effectively in many markets. Why? We have the highest productivity of any workforce in the world. We invest to turn a profit. We’re closest to the largest consumer market in the world. American work ethic + capital investments + speed to market + profit motive = best value.
Oct 3, 2014 is National Manufacturing Day. Manufacturing accounts for nine percent of the non-governmental workforce – over 12 million Americans – but creates about 13% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and provides wages and benefits on average 25% higher than other jobs.
US manufacturers make countless products and our economy stronger, more resilient and better in many ways. At Tusco, we’re proud to count ourselves among them.
