Ingenuity Insights - Levy Home Entertainment

Situation:
Levy Home Entertainment, the largest distributor of book products, enjoys a reputation as an innovator and market shaper.  When a number of their retail chain’s older wooden display shelves started to need frequent repair and replacement, Levy management turned to Tusco for a more durable/long life solution.   Tusco took on the challenge, but expanded this to meet a number of additional criteria - merchandise flexibility, the best product presentation and ease of installation.   Merchandise flexibility was needed to be able to adapt their displays to individual store layouts and maximize product facings with the sales dynamics of each store.   The best product presentation was designed into the modular shelving system, which was easy to install by their Sales Representatives. 

Ingenuity:
Tusco worked with Levy to design a lightweight metal shelf system with modular components that mount on the retailer’s stock gondola, and created an ever growing abundance of modular components. Levy can customize the display to fit the space requirements of each store, and their sales associates can update the product mix weekly in each store so product exposure is in line with sales trend data. Tusco puts on installation training for Levy’s sales associates, many of which are women, and they tell us they love the lightweight modularity, flexibility, easy-to-read instructions, along with the ease of installation of the units.  Our shopper marketing insight improved product presentation and added to Levy’s bottom line.

Results:
We were put to the ultimate test when one of Levy’s biggest retail customers requested all new displays for over 90 stores – in about three months. Tusco not only delivered – we received the highest praise possible when the president of Levy recommended Tusco Display to one of his other retail customers.

The new book department display projects a contemporary, sophisticated image and welcomes customers.  The maple wood grain provides a warm up-scale library-type environment and the brushed stainless signs allow customers to quickly find the category of interest.

The design maximizes product capacity, product visibility and facility shopping convenience.  Shopper marketing was employed to re-design shelving to tilt upward for better visibility and easily read book titles. New shelving also eliminated a graphic sign channel to provide a clean, non-cluttered look; with books as the total focus.
