Statement of Environmental Stewardship
At Tusco Display, sustainability comes naturally. As designers, engineers and producers of permanent displays and store fixtures, we have long focused on making the most with the least. We do this operationally by designing and engineering cost-effective merchandising solutions that are light but strong, inexpensive yet effective, versatile yet specific.
And because we use the world’s most recycled material as our primary raw material – carbon steel – most of our units can be recycled when they reach the end of their long lives.
As we produce displays and fixtures, we throw nothing away that can be recycled. From wood pallets to corrugated containers, we routinely reuse instead of turning things into refuse. In the process of designing, engineering and producing point-of-purchase displays and custom store fixtures, Tusco Display recycles hundreds of tons of offal annually.
In 2010, Tusco Display recycled over 375,000 pounds of carbon steel, 15,000 pounds of aluminum – including approximately 50,000 aluminum soda cans – and hundreds of tons of corrugated, plastic and waste paper (newspapers, office paper, magazines).
In our Ohio facility, we use a geothermal system to heat and cool and, in 2011, will install a 15.18 KWe solar collection system to provide approximately 10% of total electrical demand. We converted to 100% powdercoating years ago to eliminate all volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions and powder is often collected and reused. And starting in 2011, we are participating in a Demand Response (DR) program through EnerNOC to voluntarily and systematically cut electrical usage on four-hour notice when AEP encounters excess demand during the summer months, all without compromising our ability to reliably delivery for our clients.
As Tusco designs, develops and deploys sustainable merchandising solutions for our clients, we continue to employ sustainable practices in all that we do. It’s only natural.
